Nobdies Perfect? Says Who?

Posted on Jan 9th, 2008 by karen
It was Christmas day, and the family gathered in my mums for dinner. I can't now remember what was being talked about, what I do remember is my mum telling my 13 year old niece she's not perfect.
I was immediately struck by the fact (FACT) that she is perfect, and I told her so with a hug and a whisper.
There will never be another person on this planet qualified to come close to the perfect she that she is. No-one else could be her. She is perfectly designed for that job. Just as you are perfectly designed to be you.

Why are we told throughout our lives that we're not perfect? Because we make mistakes? Because we stumble and fumble our way in the dark? How strange to designate our learning as 'imperfect'. How presumptuous!
Surely the label of imperfect belongs to the ego, that part of us which says it is so... That part of us which seeks our separation from God, from our perfection.

Can it be possible that if we were taught from the beginning that was ARE perfect, that we may strive constantly to live up to our perfection, to be the best that we are?
I  posted something along these lines in the Global Consciousness website the other day and Anonymous told me s/he was not perfect because s/he had been born with a twisted spine, but surely Anonymous was perfectly equipped for a life inside such a body? Or is that just too flippant of me?

Would this be a better world if we were never told we're not perfect?

I know that my nieces are perfect. I would prefer that they grow up knowing that about themselves. I think telling them they're not perfect is wrong and damaging.
I am sometimes accused of being too sensitive about such things. Can this be the case here?

No matter.
Here's what want YOU to know.
YOU are perfect! No other human being on the face of this Earth can come close to the you-ness in you. And because YOU are perfect I am enhanced.
